Access To Higher Education CoursesPrint Page
If you do not have the required entry qualifications for a degree course, you may be able to study an access course which will enable you to progress onto a degree after successful completion. Access courses are open to everyone over the age of 19, regardless of previous qualifications. If you didn’t get the qualifications when you were in full time education or it is a long time since you have studied, then an access course is the ideal route to getting you on the right track into higher education.
Pathways through the access course include Humanities and Social Science, Mathematics and Science, Teacher Training, Nursing and routes allied to Medicine. Access courses can be studied full or part time and usually last one year.
You may be eligable to apply for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan to fund your Access course. Plus if you go on to study at higher education level and complete your degree then your 24+ Advanced Learning Loan will be written off.
Access courses are very popular and our applications are high so apply for the access course as early as possible by completing an application. You will be invited to attend an interview and assessment prior to being offered a place on the course.
For more details on the part time Access course visit the course section.
Once you have had an assessment, this will determine your suitability for the course and further advice will be available from the tutor.
All access courses are QAA recognised and can be started in September. For more details contact the course tutor, Elaine Allcock on 01325 503050.
