Darlington College works in partnership with secondary schools in Darlington, North Yorkshire, Tees Valley and County Durham to raise awareness of vocational and higher education, as well as Darlington College in particular. Supporting activities, primarily for students in years 9, 10 and 11, this service puts emphasis on the value of helping students make their next steps.
The college works in partnership with a variety of agencies, including secondary schools, pupil referral units, Local Authorities, Social Services and community based groups to provide education, training and information and advice for all school students.
Our Schools Liaison Team are happy to visit schools to deliver sessions to students both to assist them in making their next step decisions, and to provide information about studying vocational qualifications. The team delivers sessions mainly to students in years 9, 10 and 11, but can deliver sessions to younger year groups, such as Year 8 students who may be making their GCSE option choices.
As well as delivering sessions within the school, our Schools Liaison Team can also attend the school during careers fairs, year 9 options evenings, year 10 and year 11 parents’ evenings to give students and parents the chance to find out more about our vocational courses and Apprenticeships.
College Tours and Visits
We can provide bespoke tours of the college to enable students to see the facilities available, as well as experiencing life at Darlington College. These visits can be organised as individual VIP tours or for larger groups. We can customise the visit to suit your students’ specific requirements, so please contact us if you’d like to discuss a potential visit.
Taster Days (Discovery Day)
Discovery Day is an opportunity for students in year 10 to have a go at different subjects available at Darlington College, before they make their final next step decisions in year 11.
Discovery Day 2014 will be held over two days in late June and will be organised through schools.
Our Schools and Community Liaison Officers co-ordinate the programme of school activities, both within schools and the college. Please get in touch with the team to discuss any requests:
