This course is ideal if you want to gain a nationally recognised Level 2 science qualification and study in a vocational context. It is linked directly to the work scientists do in the laboratories. It also develops transferable skills: team working, communication, problem solving, research skills and helps to enhance English, maths and IT competence. Course units consist of elements of physics, chemistry and biology.
If you have not achieved a C grade or above in English or maths, you will as part of your course be required to work towards this as part of your study programme.
4 GCSE subjects at 3 points or D grade and above including GCSE maths, English and a science subject, as well as a satisfactory school report. You will also need to attend an interview at the college.

The course consists of a mixture of theory and practical laboratory based learning.
The students will be assessed by continual assessment.
All students are required to wear lab coats and glasses whilst in the lab and will also need lever arch files, pens, paper, pencils.
You may progress on to the Level 3 Applied Science course or go into employment.
