Course overview

If English is not your first language, this is an opportunity to improve your English speaking and listening skills. If you are a citizen of any country within the European Economic Area and for at least 3 previous years, you will be eligible to join classes at Darlington College. If you are from outside the EEA, you are also entitled to join classes but the fees will be double. (If this does not apply, please speak to us for advice and guidance.)

You will work towards qualifications appropriate to your level and progress.

We offer daytime classes at Level 1 on Mondays and Tuesdays between 12.30 - 15.30 hours. We also offer Level 1 classes on Tuesday evenings between 17.50 - 20.50 hours.

The aim of the course is to improve your speaking and listening skills at Level 1 and to gain a Government approved English language qualification. This qualification is recognised by employers and other educational institutions.

We also deliver Entry level Functional Skills maths, aimed at ESOL learners. This is taught by ESOL tutors. All of our tutors are fully qualified with degrees and PGCE qualifications.

Please note that we try to teach classes as separate levels but sometimes we have to combine these depending on circumstances.

Course costs

ESOL classes are FREE if you are under 19 years of age. If you are in receipt of certain benefits, ESOL classes are also free. Please contact us on 01325 503030 for further details.

The price of the course includes the exam registration fees; however, any re-sit exams may be charged for.
