Before you start the course you will meet with a tutor for an individual chat and an initial assessment. The tutor will work out your current numeracy level and recommend the best session for you.
You will then study an appropriate range of maths skills for your level e.g. addition, subtraction, money, fractions, ratio, percentages and/or statistics.
You will need to provide your own paper, files, ruler and pens.
Functional Skills courses are FREE for those who have not achieved a grade C at GCSE - GCSEs in Maths and English are offered on a part-time basis both day time and evenings. Tuition is free and both are externally examined in early June 2018.
No formal qualifications are required.
Please contact 01325 503050 to arrange an assessment.
Classes include workshops and practical activities, as well as taught sessions. The sessions build learners' confidence by developing independent study skills.
There are different types of assessment, depending on the learner's wishes and level as well as a discussion with your tutor. National tests are available on-line or as paper-based tests.
Although these courses do not lead directly to a career, the new National Qualifications could lead to improved employment prospects.
