Course overview

This course provides you with a programme of study over a range of disciplines to help you develop skills to progress your career through employment or further education at degree level. This is an award from Teesside University.

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge required as a higher technician in electrical design/ development engineering. The programme aims to develop the management skills for a higher technician to complement the specialist academic study.

Entry requirements

A HNC programme in an appropriate engineering discipline. This course requires you to fill out an application form, and you must speak to the tutor prior to enrolment.

Studying and learning

This course is delivered using a combination of practical sessions, lectures and tutorials. You will be required to complement your college based learning with self-study. The course requires you to complete the study of 8 modules for the award of Higher National Diploma. Industry standard software will be used for programming applications. Electronic resources will be available on LearningZone.

Top up from HNC to HND requires the study of 6 modules. Indicative modules are identified in the following list:

How will I be assessed

A range of integrated assignments, case studies, projects and tests are planned throughout the year. All units are assessed and graded, either internally or externally.
