The use of computer aided design (CAD) systems in industry has become an essential part of the modern working environment. It is used at all stages of the design period, from conceptualisation and production of working drawings to the production of virtual reality images.
The City & Guilds 7579 - 02 - 201 Computer Aided Design course provides a range of practical studies in AutoCAD and assessment to demonstrate competence in its use.

No formal qualifications are required, though an appreciation of engineering drawing is considered essential.

The 2D computer aided drawing unit aims to equip you with the basic understanding of the 2D drawing environment, in terms of hardware, software and physical surroundings. Practical experience in the use of AutoCAD will be taught using structured exercises presented in the form of a ' workbook' and assessed with two practical tests and a multi-choice test paper.
Assessment is typically by two practical drawing/editing tests and a multi-choice online test paper.
It may be a possible to progress to Level 3.
