Subject Overview

Darlington College offer a wide range of different opportunities within the field of construction in its outstanding Construction Innovation Centre.  We offer full time programmes in Carpentry and Joinery, Brickwork, Plastering, Electrical Installation, Plumbing, Painting and Decorating.

We also have full time programmes for professional and technical skills in Construction and the Built Environment, which can lead on to university and careers such as an Architect or Civil Engineer.

We have invested heavily in new facilities and are very proud of our Construction Innovation Centre.  We have redesigned, refitted and enlarged our workshops for bricklaying, joinery, painting and decorating, plastering, plumbing and electrical installation work, as well as creating new conference rooms, a computer suite, a gas assessment centre and a green energy room. We have focussed heavily on embedding health and safety into the build and, by integrating a PPE Portal which all students must pass through to equip themselves to undertake workshop tasks; we hope to prepare them for the demands of working on a real construction site.

We also offer Apprenticeships in all areas (Carpentry and Joinery, Brickwork and Plastering). If you do not hold an offer of a job for your apprenticeship you will need to register with The National Apprenticeship Service .
