Course overview

The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) is the professional body for Accounting Technicians and is sponsored by four UK chartered accountancy bodies. Whether you're about to take your first step on the ladder or think you can get more out of your career, the AAT will give you the knowledge and skills you need to go further and get the rewards you deserve. It will introduce you to the preparation of financial accounts, costing, cash management, VAT, the use of spread sheets and professional ethics.

Please note that this course can also be studied as an Assistant Accounting Apprenticeship.

Entry requirements

Certificate in Accounting Level 2 or a relevant Level 2 accounting qualification, or a HNC/D in Business and Finance.  You also may have relevant work experience which may be taken into account.  You will be required to have an interview/informal chat with the tutor before enrolling on this course.

Tuition will normally take the format of lectures with you completing exercises and other individual/group work as appropriate. You will be expected to complete approximately 3 hours of private study per week.

All units will be assessed by on-line exams.

You may wish to progress onto the Level 4 Accounting Diploma.

Fees and funding

This course is free if you are 16-18 years of age on August 31 of the calendar year in which you begin your studies. If you are 19+ years of age fees may apply. However help may be available. To see if you can receive any funding call our Student Services Team on 01325 503030.
Course fees are payable to Darlington College. Registration and membership fees may be payable. All course fees are per year.
