Darlington College journalism student Harry De Cosemo is one step closer to following in the footsteps of his broadcasting idols at media giants Sky Sports News.
The 20-year-old who is currently study for a BA Journalism and News Practice degree will undergo a rigorous interview process this week (Thursday, February 12) with the chance to win a place on the prestigious Sky Sports News graduate scheme
This offers a 11-month placement with Sky. Graduates will be exposed to all aspects of Sky Sports News from script writing to shadowing one of their top reporters.
Harry, from Swainby, North Yorkshire, has already established himself as a recognised football blogger in the past four years and his work has been published in FourFourTwo magazine, The Newcastle Evening Chronicle and InsideSpanishFootball.com.
The former Stokesley School pupil has just completed an 18 week fast track NCTJ sports journalism course at Darlington College.
He is now preparing to gain work experience with Spanish publication SPORT in Barcelona, shadowing Journalist Samuel Marsden in a one week placement this month.
“Going to Barcelona is brilliant anyway but this interview with Sky now makes it better. I’ve been working towards an opportunity like this since I was 16 and I’m confident I can take it. Sky have the best sports coverage in the UK, so it will be tough, but just getting an interview is an achievement.”
