Photography Student, Jack Snaps Up Opportunity To Exhibit Work At Darlington Market FestivalPrint Page
Darlington College student Jack Davidson will put his home town firmly in the picture by displaying his final major project work as part of the 2015 Darlington Market Festival
Former Longfield Academy pupil, Jack, who is in his second year of a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Photography, will showcase six of his prints and a book published as part of his final exam work.
“Darlington is my home so it was an obvious choice for me to photograph for my final college project,” said Jack, 17, who has accepted a place at Leeds College of Art to study photography at degree level.
“There is just so much happening in the town, with new developments and re-generation projects, that I felt it was at a crucial point where it needed documenting before it changed forever.
“I really like looking at the old industrial side of Darlington focusing on what’s been left behind and being able to capture the old town while it is still there.”
Jack will be among five artistic exhibitors to showcase their work in the market place from Wednesday May 13 to Saturday May 23, offering visitors the opportunity to view, buy and commission his original artworks.
“It’s so exciting to be part of the Festival,” added Jack.
“I’ve had so much support from my college tutors and also received sponsorship from Kramer Ltd, to help me set up the stall, Lucy Grange Photography, to help me frame my work, and Darlington College who are paying towards the printing costs of the photographs.
“I’ve never exhibited any of my work publically before so it will be a massive thrill to have people coming to see it and hopefully buying some of my prints.”
