A DARLINGTON College journalism student has secured a top job in the nation’s capital even before being awarded his degree.
Liam Pearce has just completed a BA (Hons) in Journalism and News Practice top-up degree.
But the 22-year-old is already working with London-based Liberty Communications, a PR company that specialises in technology.
“I have always been interested in PR because I wanted a career that was going to offer something different every day,” he said.
Liam completed a Foundation Degree in Journalism at Darlington College before moving on to the top-up awarded by Teesside University.
“I was involved with Respect, a National Youth Council campaign to break down stereotypes.
“During one photo-shoot for this I met newsreader Martyn Lewis and he recommended studying journalism as it offers a greater insight into the media than more conventional PR and marketing qualifications – and the course has certainly done that.”
He will now work to promote technology clients from around the world, invaluable experience for his ultimate goal, which is to run his own PR business.
