A former Darlington College student has headed to a London University to pursue her dream in the field of graphic design.
Danielle Henderson, 19, originally from Richmond in North Yorkshire, gained three distinction stars at the end of her BTEC in Art and Design course in the summer and is now studying a BA honours degree in graphic design at the highly-regarded Kingston University
Danielle said her time at college gave her the chance to explore fine art, photography and fashion before deciding graphic design was her future. She said it also allowed her to be with like-minded, creative people.
“I did well at college but in London I’m only average,” said Danielle. But the challenge, competition and long hours studying she is enjoying.
Currently Danielle is working on a project researching theatre and cinema and their audiences.
“The theatre is like going to the cinema in real life,” she explained.
Danielle returned to the college last week to share her experiences with current art students and put her impressive pop-up research portfolio on show.
Tutor Pippa Eeles said: “It was great to see Danielle again and she had some valuable information to share with current art and design students about what it is like to study Graphic Design at University – her work looked amazing and the students were really impressed’’.
Before she headed back to London, Danielle told her story of success to BA Journalism students.
