About this course

All aspects of literacy needed for daily life. You will improve your reading, writing and speaking & listening skills, using a range of interesting activities.

Before you start the course you will meet with a tutor for an individual chat and an initial assessment. The tutor will work out your current literacy level and recommend the best session for you.

This course will help you develop your personal literacy skills and prepare you for a nationally recognised qualification, if appropriate.

All of the classes are free.  You will need to provide your own paper, files, ruler and pens.

The sessions build learners' confidence by developing independent study skills.

How will I learn?

Classes include workshops and practical activities, as well as taught sessions.

 

How will I be assessed?

At the end of your course you will either produce a portfolio of work for assessment or take an exam.

There are different types of assessment, depending on learners' wishes and level. For example National Tests are available on-line or as paper-based tests.

 

What else do I need to know?

There are various sessions throughout the week each class lasts for three hours, with a short break halfway through. More specific details will be given at the time of your initial assessment.

The course start dates are September, January and April.

Here at the college we have outstanding support. Our support staff are dedicated to providing you with all the help and guidance you may need throughout your college journey.
