Deaf and Deaf Blind Awareness and Communication Tactics Entry Level

D/DB & CT is beneficial for those working in Care, Health, Public Relations/Service, Education, Retail, Business, Employment, Government Agencies, who may come across deaf people in the course of their work.

This course requires no interview. No application form.

This course is accredited by Signature & ndash Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People (CACDP). It will assist in communication with profoundly Deaf, deafened, Hard of Hearing and Deafblind people.

• Language and culture
• Disability Discrimination Act
• Communication tactics
• Technical aids to communication
• LSPs

Basic literacy skills.

Onsite, classroom based.

Thiscourse will run for 3 hours per week over 7 weeks.

Communication Tactics is taught and assessed simultaneously. The Deaf and Deafblind Awareness is a brief exam which takes the form of a 20 minute multi-choice question paper.
 

Further Study:

This qualification can lead to further training in British Sign Language Levels 1  and 2, Lipspeaking, Note-Taking and Deafblind Communicator Guide. It is also a useful addition to qualifications in the field of Disability Studies or Communication Support.

A Career:

There are a number of possible careers available for those wanting to work with Deaf people, which includes Lipspeaker, Note-Taker, Communicator Guide, Interpreter and other Lsps. Most of these require additional training your tutor will be happy to advise you.
