Course modules

This course is accredited by Signature & ndash Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People (CACDP). It will assist in communication with profoundly Deaf, deafened, Hard of Hearing and Deafblind people.

Entry requirements

Basic literacy skills.

Learning method

Onsite, classroom based.

Assessment method

Thiscourse will run for 3 hours per week over 7 weeks.

Communication Tactics is taught and assessed simultaneously. The Deaf and Deafblind Awareness is a brief exam which takes the form of a 20 minute multi-choice question paper.
 

Progression/career possibilities

Further Study:


This qualification can lead to further training in British Sign Language Levels 1  and 2, Lipspeaking, Note-Taking and Deafblind Communicator Guide. It is also a useful addition to qualifications in the field of Disability Studies or Communication Support.

A Career:

There are a number of possible careers available for those wanting to work with Deaf people, which includes Lipspeaker, Note-Taker, Communicator Guide, Interpreter and other Lsps. Most of these require additional training your tutor will be happy to advise you.

Full Time Further Education course tuition fees are free if you are 16 – 18 years of age on August 31 of the calendar year in which you begin your studies, however if you are 19 or over tuition fees will apply.

For Higher Education Courses (University level and Management and Professional courses Level 4 – 7) tuition fees are applicable to all students regardless of age.
