With the government drive for a more healthy nation and the public desire to experience more outdoor pursuits, the sport, leisure, health and fitness sector is predicted to be one of the largest growth employment areas in the North East and nationally.

Demand for qualified and trained employees continues to rise and 16-24 year olds make up 24% of the employees in the sector. The industry is wide ranging, from coaching, instruction and rehabilitation, through to expeditions and outdoor sport activities and leisure development. Employers look for people with good communications skills, enthusiasm and stamina; who are well organized and who like working with people.

    I enjoy the physical aspect of the course and the teaching environment.

    What attracted you to Darlington College?
    I'd heard good things about the college and I already had a number of friends studying here.

    What are your career aspirations?
    I hope to become a personal trainer/gym instructor.

    What is the next step in your education?
    I plan to study for another year at the college.

    How will this course prepare you for your next step?
    It will provide me with the skills I need for my chosen career.

    What advice would you give to other students?
    I would recommend studying here as the college provides a positive environment with which to study in.
