Subject Overview

Science is an exciting and powerful subject. It is a way of discovering what’s in the universe, in our bodies and how things work today and likely to work in the future. It develops new technologies, which help to treat diseases, feed growing population and overcome many problems. We offer Applied Science Level 2 and Level 3. We have a brand new scientific laboratory with modern equipment.

The level 2 course gives general knowledge and practical skills in the areas of physics, astronomy, biology and chemistry.

The level 3 course covers all three sciences (biology, chemistry and physics) in general, but also allows taking optional units and specialisation in forensics science or medical science. It also includes some optional units in psychology. During your studies you will gain knowledge and skills in analytical chemistry, genetic and microbiological techniques, medical physics, forensic evidence collection and analysis among others.

After successful completion of the course you can progress onto science related degree courses or seek employment in technical or scientific area. Nursing, psychology or teaching degrees and careers are also a possibility.
