This course gives you the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge for a range of careers in the film and television industries. You will develop professional production techniques alongside a critical understanding of media theory. Practical projects will be completed using state of the art camera and editing equipment, as well as professional standard post production software such as Final Cut pro, Adobe After Effects and Maya. The extended diploma course is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
If you have not achieved a C grade or above in English or maths, you will as part of your course be required to work towards this as part of your study programme. You will be given the opportunity to go on work experience at certain times during your course.
To develop your employability opportunities you may also be given enrichment classes. This may focus upon additional qualifications, industrial updating and career preparation.
5 GCSEs at grade A*-C, including English, or the Level 2 Certificate in Media.
In order to apply for the Extended Diploma you must have achieved the Foundation Diploma.
You are required to attend an interview here at the college and we will request a school or college report.
A good level of ICT knowledge is required

You will develop your skills and knowledge through a mixture of practical and theory based sessions. The majority of units are aimed towards practical work and the development of real life skills.

Year 2 - Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (TV and Film)
After successful completion of year 1 you may progress on to the Extended Diploma and develop an in-depth understanding of media theory and production techniques that will prepare you for university or employment within the media industry.

- Film studies
- Soundtrack production
Teaching and learning is achieved by using a range of methods including formal classes, set tutorial periods and projects to support many of the formal unit assessments. These assessments make up 41% of the Foundation Diploma and 42% of the Extended Diploma.
Career opportunities exist to enter the industry at junior level in many job roles, including:
- Video editor
