Course overview

The programme of study covers all the media law essentials as well as an introduction to court reporting.

Assessment is by a two and a half hour examination which assesses candidates’ knowledge of media law and its practical application in a multimedia newsroom.

Entry requirements

The minimum requirement is 5 GCSE passes with Grades A-C (and including English and maths). The majority of entrants have A’ levels or equivalent and/or are graduates.

What next

On completion of the seven modules of the NCTJ Diploma in Journalism, and at least 18 months in the workplace as a trainee, students progress to the senior exams qualification NQJ.
