This programme gives you the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to work in the games and animation industries. You will study how the games industry works as well as learning the tools and techniques required developing a game from initial concept through to a finished professional product. Our programme and units are carefully designed in conjunction with Teesside University to offer a course which aids progression and meets the standards of the games and animation industries.
On this course you will be trained on the same software that is used by professional designers for both the games and visual effects industries. Our vast range of software includes industry standard packages such as Unreal Engine (Bio shock, Borderlands, Batman Arkham City, Gears of War), Maya (Uncharted, Halo, Avatar, Ironman, Kung Fu Panda) and Adobe Creative Suite (Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Social Network). This course is the equivalent to 3 A level qualifications.
If you have not achieved a grade C or above in English or maths, you will as part of your course be required to work towards this as part of your study programme. You will be given the opportunity to go on work experience at certain times during your course.
To develop your employability opportunities you may also be given enrichment classes. This may focus upon additional qualifications, industrial updating and career preparation.
5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English or a Level 2 Certificate in Media (graded at merit or above).
