Functional Skills MathsPrint Page
|Start date||w/c 11th September 2017; Mon 1pm-4pm or Tues 5.30pm-8.30pm|
Before you start the course you will meet with a tutor for an individual chat and an initial assessment. The tutor will work out your current numeracy level and recommend the best session for you.
You will then study an appropriate range of maths skills for your level e.g. addition, subtraction, money, fractions, ratio, percentages and/or statistics.
Some of the classes are free. You will need to provide your own paper, files, ruler and pens.
Please note that there is also a course in January starting w/c 15th January 2018.
No formal qualifications are required.
Please contact 01325 503050 to arrange an assessment.
Classes include workshops and practical activities, as well as taught sessions. The sessions build learners' confidence by developing independent study skills.
At the end of your course you will take an exam.
There are different types of assessment, depending on learners' wishes, level and discussion with your tutor. National Tests are available on-line or as paper-based tests.
Although these courses do not lead directly to a career, the new National Qualifications could lead to improved employment prospects.
This course is FREE to all those who have not achieved a grade C at GCSE. You will also be eligible to sit your first Functional Skills exam for free.
