All aspects of literacy needed for daily life. You will improve your reading, writing and speaking and listening skills, using a range of interesting activities.
Before you start the course you will meet with a tutor for an individual chat and an initial assessment. The tutor will work out your current literacy level and recommend the best session for you.
This course will help you develop your personal literacy skills and prepare you for a nationally recognised qualification, if appropriate.
You will need to provide your own paper, files, ruler and pens.
Functional Skills courses are FREE for those who have not achieved a grade C at GCSE - GCSEs in Maths and English are offered on a part-time basis both day time and evenings. Tuition is free and both are externally examined in early June 2018.
Please note that there will a January course starting w/c 15th January 2018.
No formal qualifications are required.

Classes include workshops and practical activities, as well as taught sessions.
At the end of your course you will take an exam.
There are different types of assessment, depending on the learner's wishes, level and discussion with the tutor. For example National Tests are available on-line or as paper-based tests.
Although these courses do not lead directly to a career, the new National Qualifications can lead to improved employment prospects.

This course is FREE to all those who have not achieved a grade C at GCSE. You will also be eligible to sit your first Functional Skills exam for free.
