The course will prepare you to become an Early Years Educator, enabling you to work with children from birth to five years and gain knowledge of children aged five to seven years. Upon achievement of this qualification you will be able to enter the workforce as an Early Years Educator. From September 2014 the Early Years Educator qualifications became the only qualifications to confer a licence to practice.
For this course you will be required to have a placement in an early years setting.

You will be required to have 5 GCSEs grades A*- C including GCSE maths and English or an appropriate Level 2 qualification including maths and English (at a merit if graded) and a satisfactory school report.
You must also supply details of two personal referees who are not relatives and the college will formally write to them to obtain up to date references to support your application. We will request a school or college report and you will need to attend an interview at the college.
You will need to have a clear Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check at Enhanced Level.

You will be assessed by your tutor through a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, or written assignments.
You will complete a longitudinal study set by the awarding body and will need to demonstrate competency in a real work environment.
Gain employment as an Early Years Educator in a range of childcare settings or further your studies with a Foundation Degree in Early Years.
