The qualification you will receive on completion of this study programme is, Level 3 Diploma Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools.
The course will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children or young people in school environments.
The course is suitable for those wanting to pursue a career or who are currently in the role as a teaching assistant, learning support assistant, parent support advisers, learning mentors or similar roles at a Level 3.
The course includes 2 days a week in a school environment as a placement.

You will need 5 GCSEs at Grade A*- C including English or maths. You must also supply details of two personal referees who are not relatives and the college will write to them to obtain up to date references to support your application.
You will be required to attend an interview at the college and we will request a school or college report.
You will need to have a clear Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check at Enhanced Level.

You will be assessed by your tutor through a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, or written assignments.
You could gain employment in a school setting or work towards the Working with Children and Young People Foundation Degree.
