This Pre-Access course enables you to gain a health and social care qualification, and provides you with the skills needed to help you progress onto an Access diploma course. Upon completion of an Access course you could then embark on a degree programme.
You will be studying English and maths as part of this course and will obtain a Level 1 English and maths qualification at the end of your studies.
With this type of qualification, career opportunities are possible in many care environments including hospitals, day centres and residential homes.
There are no formal requirements for this course. You will however be required to attend an interview at the college, and we will also request a school or college report.

You will have to attend lectures including tutor led sessions, practical sessions, workshops, and tutorials. A variety of teaching methods are implemented in order to offer maximum learning opportunities throughout the programme of study.
You will need to complete 10 mandatory units. The mandatory units include:
- Health promotion
- Human biology
- Introduction to psychology
- Social psychology
- Critical thinking
- Nutritional science
