Do you want to learn new skills and get paid for it? If your answer is yes, then an Apprenticeship could be just what you’re looking for.
What is an Apprenticeship?
An Apprenticeship lets you earn while you learn as you have a job with a real local employer from the day you start. Programmes are a combination of practical, on the job training in the workplace, along with college-based learning. At the end of your Apprenticeship you’ll have a nationally recognised qualification, great experience and excellent career prospects.
Apprenticeships are available in a wide range of popular vocations including beauty therapy, bricklaying, engineering, hairdressing, plumbing, vehicle repair, childcare and much more. Take a look at the apprenticeship guide below for further details.
For a full list of Apprenticeship courses currently offered through Darlington College, please visit the Apprentice Subject page.
Anyone over 16 years old can apply for an Apprenticeship, whether leaving school, unemployed or employed. Depending on your existing skills and qualifications, you can apply for any of three types of qualifications:
- Level 2: Intermediate Level Apprenticeship (equivalent to five A* GCSEs)
- Level 3: Advanced Level Apprenticeship (equivalent to two A-Levels)
- Level 4: Higher Apprenticeship ( foundation degree level)
